The Trani’s Moscato

The Moscato di Trani is a PDO closely linked to the city of Trani (province of Barletta Andria Trani) although it includes other neighboring municipalities. It foresees the use of only one vine, the white Moscato, locally called Moscato Reale, for the production of only two types of wine: natural sweet and liqueur. The history of Moscato di Trani has its roots already in the XIII century, a time when it was made famous, in most of Europe, by the merchants of the Republic of Venice. The disciplinary provides for a minimum total gradation of 14.5 ° and a mandatory aging of 5 months.
